Nelson Mandela Bay — Port Elizabeth plus Uitenhage — is the most underrated city in South Africa for foreign men. The beach culture along Summerstrand and Hobie Beach is serious, the city has a university population, and because it doesn't get Cape Town's tourist flood, the locals are genuinely interested in outsiders rather than fatigued by them. The Boardwalk casino complex gives you a reliable social hub where different crowds mix on weekend nights. The cost of living is lower than Cape Town and Joburg while the quality of life is comparable — your money goes further and you feel it.
