The terrain gets Vietnamese hikers for the mountain passes and the Khe Vằn waterfall area, and the autumn pampas grass season draws photographers, but the social infrastructure is subsistence-level. A foreign man here is a double outsider: outside Vietnamese mainstream culture and outside the tight ethnic minority community structures that define village life. No accommodation beyond basic homestays, no nightlife of any kind.

Worth a night if you're doing the mountain routes.
