Tân An is the only real city in Long An — the provincial capital sitting on Highway 1 and the Vàm Cỏ Tây River, about 45 minutes from HCMC by car. As the administrative and commercial center of the province, it has functioning cafes, restaurants, a night market strip, and the kind of infrastructure that makes social life possible. A foreign man here is enough of a novelty to generate genuine interest without being so alien that it creates barriers — the city is cosmopolitan enough relative to the province that women have some exposure to the idea of outsiders. The best-positioned district in Long An by a clear margin.
