Cai Rang is best known for its floating market — the largest in the Mekong Delta — where wholesale trading of fruit and produce starts at 4am on the river. That market draws day-trip visitors from Can Tho but clears out by mid-morning, leaving the district to its actual residents. The riverfront canal system here is genuine Mekong Delta life without any tourist staging, and the cost of living is noticeably cheaper than Ninh Kieu proper. If you're based in Can Tho for a longer stretch and want a quieter residential pocket with easy access to the city center, Cai Rang works.

You can live here comfortably on a budget, but if meeting people is a priority you'll be making the trip to Ninh Kieu constantly. Works as a cheap base, not as a destination in itself.
