Hàm Thuận Nam holds the luxury resort corridor that runs south of Mũi Né toward Kê Gà lighthouse — the Amanoi-tier properties and boutique resorts that attract Vietnamese-Americans, overseas Vietnamese, and upper-income domestic tourists. The staff at these resorts are often young women from nearby villages who interact with guests daily and have a fundamentally different attitude toward foreigners than the general rural population. The coastline here is genuinely quieter and more beautiful than Mũi Né proper, and the economic gap between resort-staying foreigner and district wages is as sharp as anywhere in Vietnam.

Hàm Thuận Nam is either inside a resort or outside one — and those two realities barely intersect. The resort properties along the Kê Gà coast are well-run and the setting is excellent, but once you leave the gates you're in fishing villages and agricultural land with no nightlife, no cafes, and limited transport. As a base for meeting local women outside of hospitality contexts it's weak; as a comfortable place to bring someone from Phan Thiết it works well.

The district's villages near Kê Gà are traditional and the local economy is fishing and small agriculture.
