Dĩ An shares a border with HCMC's Thủ Đức area but has none of the latter's social scene or expat infrastructure — it's a dense industrial zone dominated by garment, electronics, and packaging factories. The population skews heavily toward young migrant women who work factory shifts and live in company dormitories with restricted schedules and limited free time. There are almost no venues where a foreigner meets people organically, and the district generates zero tourist or expat foot traffic. HCMC is 20 minutes away — there is no reason to be here instead.
