Tân Thành (now administratively Phú Mỹ) is a heavy industrial district anchored by Vietnam's largest deepwater port and a dense concentration of petrochemical plants, steel mills, and manufacturing facilities. The population is overwhelmingly factory workers and port employees living in worker housing — demographics that create essentially zero social opportunity for a visiting foreign man. There's minimal accommodation infrastructure and no nightlife to speak of. The fastest-growing economic zone in the province is among the least rewarding places to spend personal time.
