Na Rì is as far off the foreign traveler circuit as you can get in Vietnam's northeast — which gives it a certain raw appeal if you're doing a serious motorcycle traverse of the province's back roads connecting to Lạng Sơn. The Tày, Nùng, and Dao communities here encounter so few outsiders that genuine curiosity is the default response, and the market at Yên Lạc on market days has real local energy. You need to be self-sufficient and functional in basic Vietnamese to get anything out of it, but the authenticity of the experience is unquestionable.
