The dollar advantage operates here as everywhere in Venezuela, and the smaller size means a foreigner stands out in ways that can work in their favor. The social scene is limited compared to San Cristóbal but it exists, centered on the town's commercial core and plaza. Conservative by Tachirense standards, but manageable with the right approach.

Unless you have a specific local connection, San Cristóbal is 45 minutes away and a much better bet.
