Irapa is a Gulf of Paria port town at the far eastern edge of the Paria Peninsula — about as far from Caracas as you can get in Venezuela while still being on the mainland. The foreign income advantage is real and very visible here, but the social options are sparse. Irapa functions mostly as a fishing port and informal economy hub, and the population that remains after significant outmigration to Trinidad is older and family-oriented.
