The town is known for its Festival de los Zaragozas during Christmas season, a folk-Catholic tradition that draws internal Venezuelan visitors and creates a festive social atmosphere for a few weeks a year. Outside of that window the town is quiet and agricultural. The foreigner-novelty factor is high but the infrastructure to capitalize on it is thin.
