Jomboy
8.2
High score (8-10) · Your profile
Jomboy runs along the Zarafshan valley east of Samarkand and is intensively agricultural — cotton, wheat, vegetables. Social life here is fully governed by clan and mahalla ties with no room for outside male presence. Teahouses along the roads are male-only spaces that won't get you anywhere useful. There's nothing in Jomboy that warrants a foreign man's time.
Mid score (6-8)
Jomboy district has the Zarafshan River running through it and some traffic from the road east toward Tajikistan, but the settlements are effectively large villages. There's no tourist presence, limited Russian, and social interaction with women outside of formal family contexts is essentially off the table. You can get decent plov at a chaikhana, which is the most that can be said for it.
Lower score (below 6)
Jomboy is cotton and wheat country east of Samarkand where foreign men simply don't exist in the social landscape. The district center is a large village with basic services, and the surrounding communities are tight clan networks. Women here are visible in markets and fields but are not available for casual social contact with outsiders. Go to Samarkand city instead.
