Bellingham women specifically have a reputation for being outdoorsy and direct — less guarded than Seattle, more interesting than small-town Washington. Whatcom County outside of Bellingham is agricultural and small-town — Lynden has a strong Dutch Reformed Christian community identity that is tightly socially organized and not particularly open to outsiders. Blaine and Birch Bay are border-town economies. The WWU population skews young, which may or may not match your target range. Bellingham proper is excellent but the county beyond it is a different world.
