Coffee
6.2
High score (8-10)
Coffee County has no realistic warm case as a permanent destination, but the AEDC gives it more professional outside traffic than most rural Middle Tennessee counties.
Mid score (6-8) · Your profile
Coffee County has two poles that make it more interesting than its rural surroundings: Manchester hosts the Bonnaroo Music Festival annually on a farm nearby, and Tullahoma hosts the Arnold Engineering Development Complex, the largest aerospace propulsion testing facility in the world. The AEDC draws engineers and defense contractors from outside the region on a regular basis. Bonnaroo is a one-week anomaly but it shows the county isn't entirely closed. More functional for an outsider with technical credentials than most comparable counties.
Lower score (below 6)
Outside the AEDC professional community in Tullahoma and the brief Bonnaroo window in Manchester, Coffee County is conservative rural Middle Tennessee organized through church and family networks. The engineering community around AEDC is somewhat self-contained. Manchester and Tullahoma are small cities without meaningful nightlife or social infrastructure. A foreign man without technical credentials connecting to the AEDC world has limited options here.
