Point Pleasant Beach has a genuine boardwalk bar scene that gets extremely active from June through August. LBI attracts a slightly wealthier, older beach crowd. Ocean County is Shore territory on one side and heavy retirement infrastructure on the other — Toms River and the surrounding townships have been shaped by massive active-adult communities that shifted the county's demographic center. The beach towns (Seaside Heights, Point Pleasant, Long Beach Island) are seasonal to the extreme but active in summer. Ocean County also has a large and geographically concentrated Orthodox Jewish community in Lakewood that operates largely separately. The county is politically one of the most conservative in NJ.

For a foreign man without local connections, there's very little here outside of summer.
