Lincoln
6.1
High score (8-10)
Lincoln County's only real leverage for an outsider is its position on US-93 — the Great Basin Highway — connecting Las Vegas to Montana through Nevada's emptiest landscape. Pioche is a genuine old mining town with a hanging gallows that dates to the violence of the 1870s silver rush, and it draws a specific kind of visitor who's interested in authentic Western history rather than the theme-park version. Caliente has a Spanish Mission railroad depot that's genuinely beautiful. For a man who can work remotely and wants solitude with cheap land, this is 10,000 square miles of it.
Mid score (6-8) · Your profile
Lincoln County has two small towns — Pioche and Caliente — separated by 40 miles of high desert, with a combined permanent population under 2,000. The county exists in the geographic corridor between Las Vegas and southern Utah, and some ranching and tourism from Great Basin travel flows through. There's virtually no nightlife. The appeal, if any, is the extreme cost of living gap and the silence. Not a social environment.
Lower score (below 6)
Lincoln County has been slowly depopulating since the railroad stopped mattering and the mines shut down. Pioche and Caliente are genuine ghost towns in slow motion — the buildings are intact but the people are leaving. There's no dating pool, no nightlife, and no social infrastructure beyond a couple of bar-restaurants that serve the remaining locals. An outsider here without a specific land or ranching reason to be here has no viable foothold.
