Conrad (pop. ~2,500) is the county seat of a primarily agricultural county on the high plains between Great Falls and Shelby. Tiber Reservoir (Lake Elwell) provides fishing and some summer recreation. The community is conservative, agricultural, and Blackfeet Nation presence to the north adds some cultural complexity. There's no social scene to speak of but the community is not hostile to polite outsiders with legitimate purposes.

The social world is entirely agricultural families and the Blackfeet community to the north, neither of which has structured social infrastructure for an outside visitor. Great Falls is 60 miles south and is where anyone from Conrad goes for real services. An outsider has nothing to work with here.
