SaintHelena
7.6
High score (8-10)
Saint Helena Parish is longleaf pine hill country with some of the last remaining old-growth pine ecosystems in Louisiana managed through the Bogue Chitto River watershed. The river is excellent for kayaking and swimming. Property and land prices are very low. Greensburg is 45 minutes from Hammond and an hour from Baton Rouge, giving you access to larger cities while living very cheaply in genuine Louisiana hill country.
Mid score (6-8) · Your profile
Greensburg has a population of about 700 and the whole parish has 11,000 people — it's a very small, very rural place. The economy is timber-based and the population has been declining. Social life is church-based in the Baptist tradition. The Bogue Chitto River draws some recreational use. Not hostile to outsiders, just very small and very local.
Lower score (below 6)
Greensburg is one of Louisiana's smallest and most remote parish seats. The social infrastructure here is minimal — a few churches, a small grocery, and the family networks that have existed for generations. The timber economy provides limited employment. An outsider here with no pre-existing connection is genuinely stuck — there's nowhere to go and no social mixing point where strangers meet.
