Shoshone is a small railroad town of about 1,400 people in the center of the Magic Valley — the Union Pacific line runs through and the town has some historical character from its role as a junction point. Lincoln County has under 5,500 people and serves as a service stop between Twin Falls and the ski areas to the north (Sun Valley is an hour away). There's very little social infrastructure here.
