St. Anthony is the gateway to Henry's Fork of the Snake River, one of the most famous fly fishing rivers in the world, which brings serious anglers through from around the country. Mesa Falls is nearby and Yellowstone is about 100 miles north. The tourist and recreation traffic is real, but it doesn't translate into a local social scene — visitors come through and leave. The county is eastern Idaho LDS territory.
Lower score (below 6)
Fremont County is firmly in the cultural gravity of Rexburg (Madison County next door) and the social structure is almost entirely LDS-organized. Outsiders are treated with courtesy but kept at social arm's length. The county seat has under 3,500 people and the dating pool is essentially church-community only. Nothing here works for a non-member outsider.
