Soda Springs has a captive geyser in the middle of town that fires on a timer — an actual geothermal phenomenon that the city controls — which makes it one of Idaho's more unusual small towns. The phosphate mining industry employs people from outside the area, which brings in some variety. But it's still a community of about 3,000 people in southeastern Idaho LDS country. The geyser is worth seeing; the social life is limited.
Lower score (below 6)
Caribou County is firmly in southeastern Idaho's LDS belt and the community social infrastructure runs through the church almost entirely. Soda Springs has the basics of a small town but no real scene and no meaningful singles infrastructure. An outsider without a church connection has very little to work with.
