Quebracho
7.8
Lower score (below 6)
Quebracho takes its name from the iron-hard quebracho tree historically harvested here for tannin extraction, and the town still has that stripped-down extraction-economy character — functional, sparse, not built for visitors. It sits about 50 km southeast of Paysandú city with a population around 2,000. As a foreigner you would be a complete anomaly, which generates curiosity but not access — tight rural communities in Uruguay's interior are polite and closed in equal measure. Nothing here that a day trip to Paysandú city wouldn't render irrelevant.
