Pryazovske raion runs along the Azov Sea coast with a thin strip of resort villages that attracted domestic Ukrainian tourists to its flat sandy beaches and low-cost accommodation. A foreign man here in summer stood out sharply against the local resort crowd and the economic gap was wide enough that average-looking Western men got treatment they'd never receive at home.
