Alchevs'ka
8.0
High score (8-10)
Alchevsk built its identity around the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works, one of the largest metallurgical plants in eastern Europe — a place where industrial muscle ran the social calendar. Under LPR control since 2014 and now fully integrated into Russian administration, the city operates on Russian rubles and Russian documents. There is no legitimate path for a Western foreigner to be here, and attempting it puts you in contact with FSB-adjacent security structures.
Mid score (6-8) · Your profile
Before 2014, Alchevsk had a real working-class city culture — steel workers, a university, enough population to have an actual social scene. All of that is now behind a military occupation line where Russian law applies, Ukrainian currency is gone, and any foreigner without Russian authorization is a person of immediate interest to security services. The steel plant still runs but the city is a closed system.
Lower score (below 6)
Alchevsk is inside Russian-occupied territory in an active war zone. The city has been under LPR and then direct Russian control since 2014, with FSB security apparatus fully embedded. A Western man here without military or official Russian government credentials gets detained. There is no social scene, no normal civilian life, and no reason to be here.
