Horlivs'ka

High score (8-10) · Your profile
Horlivka was one of the larger cities in Donetsk Oblast with a population over 250,000 pre-war, driven by chemical plant output and coal mining. It had enough population density to support a real urban social scene, and the chemical industry brought in some educated technical workers who created a different energy from pure mining towns.
Mid score (6-8)
Horlivka was a closed industrial city where the Stirol chemical plant and coal sector dominated everything — economy, employment, even the social calendar. An outsider had little obvious place here, though the size of the city meant there was always some social activity going on.
Lower score (below 6)
Horlivka has been occupied by Russian separatist forces since June 2014 and has been under their administration for over a decade. The city is now functionally Russian-controlled territory with no access for Ukrainian citizens or foreigners not aligned with Russian military administration. This is occupied territory.
