Chyhyryn was the capital of the Cossack Hetmanate in the 17th century, and the town maintains a fortification museum on the site of the old citadel that draws occasional Ukrainian historical tourism. That tourist trickle is essentially the only external input into the social ecosystem of this otherwise very small town of around 12,000 people. The younger generation emigrates to Cherkasy or Kyiv after finishing school. No case for a foreign man prioritizing this place.
