Igara is the core of the old Bushenyi district and includes Bushenyi town itself, which is the main commercial hub for the entire Ankole southwest. Bushenyi has a proper market, several bars and lodges, a hospital, and enough economic activity that women here range from educated professionals to business owners — a much wider pool than the surrounding rural counties.
