Western Province is the tourism capital of the Solomons — Gizo is the hub, and it has actual dive resorts, a small bar scene, and a steady flow of foreign visitors that normalizes outside men in a way that doesn't happen elsewhere in the country. The WWII history (Kennedy's PT-109 wreck, Blackett Strait) gives you a concrete social hook with locals who've been telling those stories for generations. The resort and dive industry employs local women who are more accustomed to interacting with foreign men than anywhere outside Honiara. If you're going to the Solomons for any kind of social experience, Western Province is where the infrastructure actually exists to support it.
