Rona de Sus is a mountain commune in the upper Rona River valley, more isolated than Rona de Jos. The forestry economy that sustained it has contracted. Very small population, limited road access, and the intense traditional character common to upper-valley Maramures communities. One of the least-visited parts of the county for good reason.
