Hunedoara is one of those depressed post-communist steel towns where your foreign income and profile hit completely differently than they would anywhere else in Romania. The city's economy basically collapsed when the massive ArcelorMittal steel plant shed tens of thousands of jobs after communism fell, so a guy with real stability is genuinely rare here. Corvin Castle sits right in the middle of town and is legitimately one of the largest Gothic castles in Europe, which gives you an automatic, non-touristy date move that locals still find impressive.

The Corvin Castle draws day-trippers but doesn't create nightlife or a bar culture around it the way a university town would. You can make it work if you're proactive and patient, but you're not going to stumble into opportunities here.
