Medgidia is the second city of Constanța County at around 40,000 people and functions as the regional service hub for the interior of Dobrogea — rail junction on the Constanța-Bucharest and Constanța-Mangalia lines, basic commercial and medical infrastructure. It has a significant Turkish-Tatar community and one of the larger mosques in Romania, which gives the city a specific multi-cultural texture that's different from the coast. It's not a social scene destination but it's a functional city with enough infrastructure to operate from.
