Spanish day-trippers cross regularly from Ciudad Rodrigo just across the border, giving the local economy some seasonal pulse. The town itself has maybe 300 people in the historic core, so even with tourist traffic it goes quiet from October through March. You can have a solid few days here but there's no social scene to build anything from.
