Sinp'o is North Korea's primary submarine base on the East Sea and the location from which the DPRK has conducted multiple submarine-launched ballistic missile tests since 2015. The city also has a significant seafood processing industry. Precisely because of its military importance, this is one of the most restricted cities in an already restricted country — foreign men have absolutely no access here.
