Tarnowskie Góry has a genuine hook that most Silesian cities don't — its historic silver and lead mines earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 2017, bringing international visitors who wouldn't otherwise be in this part of Poland. The underground mine tour (Kopalnia Srebra) is legitimately impressive and runs year-round. The old town market square has been restored and has functioning cafes and restaurants. Women here see international visitors occasionally, which is more than neighboring mining cities can say — a foreign man here benefits from that context without being in a party town.
