Sindangan is the largest municipality in Zamboanga del Norte and the commercial center for the province's eastern half, with a functioning port on Sindangan Bay that handles interisland shipping to Cebu, Manila, and other Mindanao ports — which means women here have more context for outside contact than anywhere in the province outside the two cities. The port commerce and interisland connections have created a more outward-looking population than you find in the interior municipalities, and there are actual guesthouses, banks, and commercial services here. For a foreign man, Sindangan offers a more diverse social pool than the farming municipalities and the economic gap with a foreign income is still very pronounced. It is not glamorous but it is the most legitimate third option in the province after Dipolog and Dapitan.

Solid base for the eastern part of the province.
