Real de Catorce is one of Mexico's most visited ghost towns — a semi-abandoned silver mining village perched in the Sierra Madre that draws a steady stream of domestic tourists, European backpackers, and Huichol pilgrims making the peyote journey to Wirikuta. This means the social scene is unusually cosmopolitan for a town of its size, with travelers in a heightened openness-to-experience mindset.
