Aquila has Pacific coastline with genuinely remote beaches that see almost no visitors — the kind of empty beach that doesn't exist in more developed coastal states. The Nahua indigenous communities here have a distinct cultural identity separate from the Purépecha majority of Michoacán. If you're going for isolation and authentic coastal experience this delivers. The iron ore mining operation near Playa Azul brings in outside workers which adds some social diversity.

The indigenous communities are traditional and not particularly oriented toward engaging with outsiders recreationally. Has had significant community-mining company conflicts.
