Chalco is a large, heavily working-class municipality on Mexico City's eastern edge — historically one of the areas of 'parachutists' (squatter settlements) that formed around CDMX in the 1970s and 80s, and it has continued growing with dense low-income housing. The economic gap for a foreign man is real but the security environment and infrastructure are not conducive to acting on it casually. This is not a social destination.
