Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico's top international tourist destinations and the Romantic Zone (Col. Emiliano Zapata) has the densest concentration of foreigner-friendly bars, restaurants, and social venues in Jalisco. Women working in the tourism economy are completely accustomed to foreign men and the beach resort atmosphere breaks down the social formality that defines interior Mexico. The city has a huge LGBTQ+ scene that keeps it socially open, and app culture works better here than almost anywhere else in western Mexico. A foreigner with resources here has every possible advantage.
