One of the more visually distinctive towns in Hidalgo — the 16th-century ex-convent is built into the hillside above the town center and the canyon scenery opening toward Metztitlán starts here. Thermal springs used since before the Spanish arrived are still active. Weekend visitors from Pachuca come for the baths and the canyon. As a foreign man the novelty factor is real since foreign visitors are essentially nonexistent, but after 9pm there's nowhere to go.
