Known throughout central Mexico almost entirely for its barbacoa de borrego — slow-roasted mutton pulled from underground pits overnight, and the Sunday market draws people from across the state to eat it. The 16th-century Augustinian convent is one of the better-preserved in Hidalgo. Functional regional center with some commercial life but the town closes early and there's no nightlife infrastructure to speak of. As a foreign man you generate curiosity here but the opportunities to convert that are genuinely limited.
