Topia is a small silver mining town in the western Sierra Madre with mines that have been operating since the colonial period but are now largely inactive or minimal. The mountain setting is dramatic and the town has a certain end-of-the-road quality to it. Some ecotourism infrastructure exists around the sierra landscape but no social scene. Remote access and very small population make it a day-trip curiosity at best.
