Hakmana is a hill-country town in the interior of Matara District where tea and rubber estates cover the landscape and the nearest tourist infrastructure is a long winding road away. There is no accommodation for travelers, no English-language anything, and no social scene that a foreign man can enter. The scenery is genuinely green and the roads through the estates are scenic, but this is not a place to base yourself. Even Sri Lankan travelers rarely stop here.
