Batroun punches above its size in summer — the strip of beach clubs along the coast draws a young Lebanese crowd from Beirut looking to escape the city, and the wine bars in the old village actually stay open late. The IXsir and Cana wineries nearby make for a legitimate excuse to linger for a few days, and foreign faces are genuinely common here from June through September. The Phoenician sea wall on the waterfront is a casual landmark to anchor a conversation. If you're going to spend time anywhere in North Lebanon, this is it.
