Dakcheung sits at the far eastern edge of Sekong Province against the Vietnamese border, and for a foreign man it offers almost nothing. The district is highland forest with sparse Alak and other Mon-Khmer ethnic minority villages connected by roads that wash out in the wet season. There are no guesthouses, no bars, no social infrastructure for an outsider, and virtually no foreigners pass through. This is a place people live in, not visit.
