Yanggu is the geographic center of the Korean peninsula and the county makes a point of that — there's a marker and the locals know it. The Punch Bowl (펀치볼), a meteor crater valley that was the site of some of the most brutal Korean War fighting, is one of the more legitimately haunting landscapes in the country and generates real conversation for a foreign man who's done the reading. The county is so off the path that being here at all signals something interesting about you.
