Rarieda runs along the northern shore of the Winam Gulf and has actual Lake Victoria beach access — which is rare in Siaya County and gives it a slightly different feel from the landlocked sub-counties. The fishing communities here have their own cadence and the proximity to water means people are used to movement, trade, and meeting people from other places. Mbita point is nearby, and while it's not a resort town, it has more going on than the interior. If you're someone who can deal with basic infrastructure and wants genuine off-the-grid access to lake culture, Rarieda is the best Siaya County can offer.
