Lake Baringo's lodge scene gives you a social environment that doesn't exist anywhere else in Baringo County, but you're still three hours from Nakuru on roads that can roughen up in the wet season. The local Ilchamus community around the lake has dealt with enough foreign visitors that interactions are easy and guides are available. Outside the lake itself, there's not much — dry Rift Valley scrub and scattered manyattas. Works well as a two or three day stop, not somewhere to be based.
