Kami

Lower score (below 6)
Kami Town is on the San'in coast in far northern Hyogo, over two hours from Kobe, and is known primarily for matsuba crab — male snow crab from the Sea of Japan that's in season from November to March. The crab is genuinely excellent and some of Japan's finest. But this is a rural fishing and farming community of about 17,000 that loses population every year, and outside of crab season there is essentially nothing drawing outsiders here. Social life is entirely local and not set up for anyone passing through.
