Toyotomi is a northern Hokkaido town of around 4,000 near Teshio that has its own lavender fields — separate from the famous Furano lavender, the Toyotomi lavender fields bloom in July and create a photogenic landscape in the otherwise flat northern Hokkaido agricultural country. The hot spring hotel at Toyotomi Onsen draws some domestic tourists. The community is dairy and agricultural, and the lavender season is the only social window of any kind. Nothing here outside of that brief season.
